I guess touring does pay off. Girl In A Coma (San Antionio’s Own) sounded better than ever! This was my fourth time seeing them. This time was a bit different though. This time it was a bit different because it felt that their demeanor was more like a what UFC Fighter’s pre-fight demeanor is before a big fight as a opposed to a band who was awaiting to play their set for an hour or two. I was even a little tentative to shoot too close to them because of the stares Nina (singer) was giving me. In the end it was just that they were more focused than ever. They were just reminding us that when they play, they bring a lot of professionalism to their shows. See GIAC has been at it for many years and have toured with the likes of Cyndi Lauper and Morrissey to name a few (huge artist in the industry). Then there is the fact that they are signed on with the legendary rock artist Joan Jett’s label Black Heart Records. NUFF SAID!!!!
Gents and some of you ladies trust me when I tell you that once you hear Nina sing, you will instantly be swept into love in a coma. She will play with your heart like she plays her guitar-with such ease and no remorse . Damn see, there I went again all mesmerized from just remembering what it was like to listen to her sing. But let me remind you that if cross them, I wouldn’t put it past them to break a guitar over your head.
That night they rocked some hits of their recent cover albums, “Adventures in Coverland Vol.1” and “Vol.2” and brand new album “Exits and all the Rest” (check it out). The crowd flooded to the front of the stage. The crowd sang their songs back to them during their set. During on of those moments, Nina broke into a joyful smile as to say thanks without saying much but yet saying a whole lot. I hear that when an artist feels that, they know that they are doing something right... well at least that is what I hear from other musicians who have made it the music business.
After the show the ladies took the time to take pictures with their fans and sign merchandise for them. I heard all types of conversations along with indecent proposals etc.. by men and women LOL but all was in great fun.
And just like that it was all done.
